Now the rails have to be thicknessed on the unplaned faces and sides and then all the rails are cut to length ready have their tenons machined on them and their dowel holes bored.

The rails are all planed and ready to be cut to length.

The next job is to taper the legs which I do on the planer. This is done by setting the planer to cut half the depth of the taper and planing from the toe to halfway along the part of the leg to be tapered. The leg is then turned around and with pressure holding down the toe and thereby holding up the tenoned top end the leg is once again carefully passed over the planer which then forms the finished taper.

The parts all now need to be sanded ready to be assembled.

I first assemble the front legs using a water resistant PVA glue.
